Chemring Defence is committed to achieving the highest standards of environmental performance and recognises its corporate responsibility to the environment. The Company acknowledges that its operations and infrastructural development have direct and indirect environmental impacts on the wider community. Through our influence we aim to minimise that impact and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.

Consequently, we embrace the principles of sustainable development and are committed to continual environmental improvement and pollution prevention. We undertake to comply with environmental laws and seek to promote sound environmental practice in business and commerce generally. We strive to promote environmental management policies and practices at every level and in every department of the Company.
Chemring Defence will, so far as is reasonably practicable: -

  • Ensure environmental risks are properly identified, prioritised and managed in an appropriate and timely way.
  • Establish sound environmental management policies and promote best practice.
  • Manage its operations in ways that are environmentally sustainable and economically feasible, by making efficient and environmentally responsible use of product design, raw materials, energy and water and exploiting opportunities to maximise efficiency.
  • Minimise environmental impact and reduce or, where practicable, prevent pollution.
  • Minimise waste production by reduced consumption and develop effective waste management and recycling procedures.
  • Collaborate with key suppliers to promote environmentally responsible procurement of goods and services, by setting an example of leadership in the field of environmental management.
  • Monitor actively results and audit policies and practices to ensure Chemring Defence meets its environmental policy, targets and objectives which are all reviewed annually.
  • Develop an HR policy to raise and maintain awareness amongst staff and promote individual good practice and encourage team participation.
  • Recognise the legitimate interest that all its stakeholders, including customers, shareholders and employees have in its environmental performance and communicate openly within the Company and to the outside community/public and provide the necessary training and resources to support the implementation and compliance of our policy.

It is the duty of all company employees to conform to the environmental policy.

We endeavour to comply with all relevant environment legislation and any other requirements. Where possible we will view these as the minimum standards and shall seek to exceed them. It is our aim to comply with the International standard on Environmental Management Systems ISO.14001 and achieve continual improvement through the development of environmental performance evaluation procedures and associated indicators, objectives & targets.
